Have your say

So, what do you think of the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods? Does it feel like Connecticut's third casino or an expansion? Good place to hang or for special occasions only?

Post your comments below. We'd love to know.

I DON'T LIKE IT AND I'VE HEARD SO MANY SAY THE SAME THING.
I DO PREFER THE RAINMAKER OR THE CEDARS.
THE MGM IS SOOOOO COLD.
NONE OF THEM ARE PAYING ANYTHING LATELY. HAVEN'T FOR A LONG TIME.

My first thought after I walked around was "That's it?", it's much smaller than I had expected. The restaurants are expensive, the slots only accepted $5+ bills (I only had quarters on me), it wasn't at all what I had expected. My husband and I ended up eating at the Hard Rock Cafe. I think we're just going to stick with Mohegan, we have a better time there.

I never understood until now why Foxwoods lost its unique signature look and took on the appearance of the Mohegan Casino with a cheap Vegas flair. Apparently it reflects what is going on with the tribe behind the scenes- a lack of vision and much confusion.....leaving the customer very confused. Have the Mohegan's partnered with Foxwood's, when did MGM become a sovereign nation?

It is awful! MUCH too smokey, loud, small and the hotel lobby is really ugly. I'll never go back.

The new hotel is awesome! Very elegant and not too large where you would feel easily lost. The guestrooms have a very upscale modern flare and a beautiful view of the Connecticut woods. I can't wait to go back!

All that hype for a new "casino" ? Blah !! You need a map and/or compass just walk from the Hard Rock to the MGM.
I feel bad for the Senior Citizens who walk from one end to the other. By the time they get to the MGM, it's time to go back to the bus lobby. Just think of all the lost slot revenue just from walking.

Go Grand! I think the addition of a second casino the Foxwoods property was a good move. Not only did it offer much needed jobs to southeastern CT but I think it also offers some new night life, dinner, dancing, slots, and don't forget the amazing spa!

It looks quite "Grand" until you walk in. It feels like a claustraphobic walk through a maze of slot machines and smoke. The table games are thrown into the middle of all this mess, so the crowding is quite annoying. The shops look beautiful (even if you have to be quite rich to shop in them,) and all the employees seemed to have very classy uniforms and suits. The nightclub looked quite impressive from the outside. I assume that will do quite well. I suppose only time will tell. One thing is definate; it is here to stay.

A couple of these comments seem to be written by MGM public relations folks who haven't even been to the place. (See 6/26 7:44am and 8:10am)
The place is an eyesore... inside and out.

As a dealer at Foxwoods, I make it a point to ask my customers if they've been over to the MGM and their feelings about it. In the past month, I've probably spoken with 300 customers and have had less than 10 speak positively about it.

So as I dealer..... You down your company ? WOW !! What about eing for the company ? I know you are for the union.. Then you should not want anything to do with the MGM tips, that has made the news lately..... You guys are very good at complaining, yet MGM is doing much better at table games than Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun...... Gosh, jealousy is a great thing....... And yes I deal at Mohegan.... And I would never down my company, even YOUR UNION, says not to.........

so ive been, its nice. i think some people may not like it cause it has a younger flair. This is the part thats catered more towards the younger crowd. I was recently informed that its main purpose is for meetings and conventions. Its time to open your eyes and accept change. Enjoy it, if not stay home... P.S I Love Shrine!!!

Now with "The Grand" up and running the ever-so-subtle differences between the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods "Brands" are forever gone. The route in which Foxwoods and the Tribe have chose to expand is not so much as the same aspect of "Skip's (Hayward)" way but that of a newer breed of membership; whereas the Mohegan Sun has and continues in my opinion to stay true to form of the Mohegan way. While both expand out,up and round to round, most in the region can still see the Mohegan touch on the proper, and see the loss of the same Wonder of it all, Foxwoods proper. And many today still wonder where it all went.
